About the Course

This advanced CVI training is designed for professionals who already have a foundational understanding of Cortical Visual Impairment and are ready to move into formal assessment, reporting, and programme planning. The CVI: From Understanding to Action course is a prerequisite for this course. The CVI Range© Assessment, developed by Dr Christine Roman-Lantzy, is a specialized, evidence-based educational tool used to evaluate the functional vision of children and young people (6 months to 21 years) with Cortical Visual Impairment. It measures the impact of 10 characteristic behaviors on a 0–10 scale, divided into three phases to guide interventions. Using information gathered through parent or caregiver interviews, structured observation, and direct assessment, the CVI Range© evaluates both the overall impact of CVI on functional vision and the degree to which each characteristic interferes with visual use. This course focuses on practical application of the CVI Range© , ensuring participants can confidently Assess, Report and put in place phase-appropriate intervention planning that supports therapy, education, and daily routines. What You Will Learn - Conduct, score, and interpret the CVI Range© Assessment accurately - Use CVI Range© results to describe a student’s functional vision strengths and challenges - Apply CVI Range© scores to structured reporting and programme planning - Link assessment outcomes directly to phase-appropriate CVI intervention strategies - Use CVI Range© results to guide educational, environmental, and developmental interventions - Support interdisciplinary teams and families using clear, functional vision-based recommendations How It Works - 7-week facilitated online course with scheduled start dates - Pre-recorded online modules delivered in structured chapters - Live Zoom Q&A and discussion sessions following each chapter (attendance optional; recordings provided) - Full access to all materials and recordings for 6 months from the course start date - Downloadable training notes, certificate of completion, CPD points for South African participants Start dates 2026: Group 1: 4 May - 19 June  2026 Group 2: 17 August - 2 October 2026
